First Day of School!!!!

I'm done with my first day of Spanish School!!! Whew......it was quite the mental workout, but I enjoyed it! I actually had "first day of school" jitters last night and felt like I was missing something by not having my backpack filled with books, notebooks, stapler, etc. ready. :) lol

My morning classes are interesting....When I went in last Friday for the oral interview, I tested out of the Basics level and was placed in the Pre-Intermediate level. This meant that I would be joining students who had just completed the Basics Level and had already been there for a while. I was definitely nervous. So, in typical Amanda style, I got up crazy early, was ready crazy early, left early, and consequently arrived 45 minutes early.......but its all good. :) Classes began at 9, and I discovered that I would have 3 classmates, and that one of them was actually just beginning the Pre-Intermediate level as well! So I didn't feel so awkward. :)

From 9-1 we had class with one coffee/snack break in the middle. Man, what a brain workout!!! 2 of my classmates are from Holland, so they not only have an accent while speaking English, but when the speak Spanish as well! I almost couldn't understand one of them very well at all today. :( Hopefully this will improve with time. :)

My 3rd classmate is from Chicago, and we hit it off right away! She is so sweet and my age too, so I think we will work well together. :)

I have private tutoring from 2-4 every afternoon as well, and it is awesome! My tutor's name is Marco and he really pushes me to figure out the language as I converse and listen, etc. He was also the one who interviewed me on Friday, so luckily he already knew a little of where I am in my language acquisition, so that made it a little smoother I think. Also, I find that being forced to speak Spanish so much more, I am remembering a lot and am able to converse a lot easier than write Spanish. Marco and I were able to have pretty decent conversations and I understood him pretty well through context, what I already knew, etc. I'm looking forward to the rest of my time here at Peruwayna!!!..............................................................................................................................................................................But keep praying for me to learn efficiently and quickly with minimal forgetting! :)
