Today was awesome and a great learning experience! Satan continued to attack me all day, but I was glad I was able to be interacting with the schools and had other team-members who were very supportive. We went to two different schools and I discovered that my role here would also be at least partially connecting with individuals through the Spanish I did know. At the first school, the Lut Program, I was able to converse with some of the moms in Spanish since I still was not understanding all of the Peruvian Sign Language they used. The students there had a variety of skill levels, but it was awesome to see them engaging and learning. They especially enjoyed the science experiments. I was not able to engage with the students as much as I would have liked, but I knew that would change as I acquired more Peruvian Sign Language and the week continued. :)
At the second school we went to in the afternoon, Fundesorp, I had picked up enough of the Peruvian Signs that I could use both Spanish and Sign Language to converse. It was pretty awesome cause then I finally felt somewhat more useful.
Here is one of the students presenting what he had done in the reading/writing activity. You can see more pictures from my trip in the photo gallery!
