So, I arrived to Peru Wed night safely! Although the adventures began in the airport......... I got off the plane and was able to get through customs in an abnormally short time. And, to add icing on top of the cake, they gave me a 6 month tourist visa, so I won't need to border hop in the event I don't have my residence visa in the the next 90 days(which is the more typical time that they are apparently supposed to be giving out). Who knew Moving was soo much work???

This is it......The truck has come, been filled, and is on its way to the port to be shipped to Peru!!!! Craziness...This is really happening! On this 20' container is ALL the wheelchairs, Crutches, Walkers, etc. as well as a bunch of donations in boxes and a foosball table for some enjoyment! Back to the Daily Grind.....For Now

So I've been back in the lovely U.S.A. for about a week now and and I feel like I've returned to a previous life....everything is pretty much exactly the same as when I left, but I feel that so much has changed for me...... Reflections and Logistics!

This last week 1/2 or so has been amazing!! Sorry for not posting sooner... Last Tuesday a group of 35ish individuals mostly from Northern Virginia(weird, huh? lol) arrived at El Refugio and they spent a week doing VBS, Construction Work, Painting, etc. It was awesome having them here and I got to interact with them a bit during the week and was able to interpret their presentations whenever deaf students/individuals were present. I Made It To Pucallpa!!!!

After all my nervousness, I made it to Pucallpa just fine. And God, as always, was so faithful and gave me peace almost all day. This morning I felt really nervous until after I had checked in my luggage and went and sat in a café and just chilled with an apple muffin and café con leche. Farewell Lima.....Pucallpa, here I come!!!

One week of classes down and an awesome weekend!!!!

One Week of Classes Done!!!! I really enjoyed them and feel like I have definitely learned so much in such a short amount of time! Now if I could only remember to incorporate everything I've learned into my everyday conversation....... Peru - July 19-20, 2013

We flew back to Lima the morning of the 19th and then fended for ourselves till we left Saturday afternoon. Our flight had no delays going back to Lima and we were all quite relieved. Today we went to Macchu Picchu! We were all sooo excited to finally be going to visit this amazing place! It was quite the trip though…we had to ride a van, a bus, a train, a bus again, then walk to actually get there. It was an absolutely gorgeous trip, but long nevertheless. Peru - July 16-17, 2013, Part 3

Our visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas was breathtaking as well! It was a workout to climb at that altitude to the top of the mountain to overlook the entire valley, but boy was it worth it! And the drive there was AMAZING! We stopped multiple times along the way to take pictures of the beautiful Andes glaciers and mountainous regions we were driving through. While visiting some historical sites surrounding Cuzco, it was so amazing to see the remnants of the ruins and how precise the architecture was! The temple we visited that was still entirely intact had such amazing well placed architecture that it has continued to stand amidst the numerous earthquakes that have occurred over the centuries! Tuesday and Wednesday we toured a Cathedral, an Inca Temple, and some historical locations in Cuzco Valley as well as the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
